Industrial aluminum processing methods

 

The processing of alloy industrial aluminum profiles mainly includes forming and surface processing.

 

1. Forming processing

There are roughly two methods for forming aluminum profiles: extrusion and rolling.

Extrusion is a common forming method for industrial aluminum profiles. Firstly, an aluminum profile mold is made according to the section of the profile, and a round casting rod heated to a critical point is extruded from the mold by an extruder. For example, in 6063 alloy aluminum profiles, there is an air-cooling quenching process and artificial aging treatment in the extrusion process to complete the heat treatment strengthening of the aluminum profile, and the heat treatment methods of different aluminum alloys are different.

The rolling method is used when large and medium-sized bars and sections with simple cross-sectional shapes are required that require large quantities and are not very demanding in terms of size and surface quality.

 

2. Surface treatment

The surface processing method of industrial aluminum profiles is generally surface anodizing, and some parts require processing such as spraying and electrophoresis.

The surface anodizing treatment is to use the electrolysis principle to form a thicker and denser oxide film on the surface of the industrial aluminum profile, thereby increasing the corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloy material. After that, it is necessary to seal the industrial aluminum profiles.
